Might it have somethig to do with the old, pre-Internet, bulletin boards?
They were the start of the rot, so far as WT is concerned...

at last nights meeting my dad gave the announcements and he said bulletin board.
after the meeting an elder came up to him to tell him that bulletin is a negative word and to say information board next time.
whats up with that?
Might it have somethig to do with the old, pre-Internet, bulletin boards?
They were the start of the rot, so far as WT is concerned...

i'm thinking through my new position on blood transfusions, and would appreciate your 'pearls of wisdom.
i now feel that, while a blood transfusion is still dangerous, i would accept it as a last resort, if all else failed.
i would not die, or allow any of my family to die, for want of a transfusion of plasma, platelets, or red or white cells.

I now feel that, while a blood transfusion is still dangerous, I would accept it as a last resort, if all else failed. I would not die, or allow any of my family to die, for want of a transfusion of plasma, platelets, or red or white cells. These are the primary blood components the Society forbids JWs to receive (unless you live in Bulgaria).
However, the Society teaches that blood fractions, derived from any primary blood component, is a matter of conscience. Is this because they are safer, less risky, than a transfusion of red or white cells, etc? Or because they are made from primary components, is there no difference?
I've not had much success searching Google. If anyone has any medical knowledge, or knows where the information can be found, I'd be very grateful.

well at 34 years of age i'm still wondering what i'm going to do with my life, career-wise.. i have done well in college courses i've taken in math, computer programming, and logic.
also i have a fair amount of experience working as an end-user of various database programs used by my previous and current employers, and i have found that i have a good intuitive knack for understanding the underlying logic that makes them do what they do.
so, i think that i have the mental goods necessary to be a good computer programmer, in fact i feel that i could be a pretty damn good one.. but, with all the out-sourcing, i'm wondering if american computer programmers are a dying breed that will eventually be completely supplanted by indian, chinese, and russian programmers.. so to those of you americans who currently work in the field, do you think that it is foolish to pursue a degree in computer science, given current trends?
There are some excellent books about programming available, not the coding of it but the actual 'business' of developing software, that are a good read
Two of the best books I've ever read on the business of cutting code are Code Complete and Debugging the Development Process. They're both Microsoft Press books, sorry I don't remember the names of the authors.

it seems the wt is selling off lot of property.
the wt just sold the orange grove farm they have in fort myers fla. i guess jehovah got sick of growing oranges.
john i was told no jw's wanted to pick the oranges no more.
I think they're cutting back on a lot of their food production capacity, not just orange groves.
Apparently they're just not economical--they can buy food cheaper down at the wholesale food markets.
Am I being overly cynical in suggesting that there must be something dramatically wrong with their management methods if, in spite of having free labour, they still can't compete with commercial growers...?

now wishful thinking is different from the facts, but in our age of technology, which is pretty new!.
how long do you think the wts got before the "truth" is out ?
( i hope its soon).
I think it will be a long, slow, decline.
Let's face it, the package they offer is appealing: who wouldn't want to live forever in perfect health on a paradise earth...?
It's just such a pity it ain't so.
There will always be unhappy and gullible persons who will partially, but not fully, make up for those who leave. For the reasons others have already mentioned (Internet, youths, education, scandals, etc), the high growth years are over.
And the WT will cover it over by continuing to fraudulently 'adjust' the annual figures. (Anyone ever noticed how the August field service report [reported in the December Kingdom Ministry] is always much higher than the previous months? Because it's the last month of the Society's 'service year,' the figures are 'padded' as much as can be credibly borne, so the annual 'peak' figure is "encouraging to the brothers.")

we've been saved from the bad ol' tewwowists!.
sorry cant explain much as i fell into a short coma after reading the 1st few lines, so u'll have to check it out for yourselves.
hmmm this leak coming out now wouldnt have anything to do with the new terror laws they are trying to push throught at the moment would it ?
I'm sitting here cynically smiling at the memory, from last year I think, of troops in tanks surrounding Heathrow airport.
I guess they were there to prevent such "9/11-style attacks"??
I'm just too cynical
No, it's impossible to underestimate the cynicism of politicians approaching elections...

the society claim that many prophecies have a "greater fulfilment.
daniel 4 was not only fulfilled with king nebuchadnezzar, but has a "greater fulfilment" in telling when the gentile times will end.
has the society ever tried to justify this practise?
This type of vanity would have to have a show of humility and honesty in order to further justify the vanity, which would even fool the possessor into thinking that's why god choose them
Interesting thought, thanks. You may well be right.
One of the justifications I recall was that the prophecies were not completely fulfilled when they were uttered.
You're quite right, I'd forgotten that. Thanks.
In other words, they say, because the prophecies didn't come true back then, that guarantees they must come true in future!
